The enthroned blue complexioned figure could be identified as an avatar of Lord Vishnu, either as Krishna or Rama. A closer look allows us to note attributes of Rama as he is more often depicted as a king than a deity. He is seen here holding a shield and attending to a peach-complexioned man, possibly Lakshmana, his younger brother. Rama is probably preaching to him and is seen in the vitarka mudra gesticulating with his right hand. He is seen wearing a yellow dhoti, golden jewellery including a bejewelled crown with a plume attached to it and a large nimbus around his face. A crescent moon and a tiny star motif are made around his nimbus, denoting his heavenly status. Sita, his consort is seated next to him on the golden throne. She is dressed in a red sari and an orange blouse and has a horizontal tilak mark on her forehead. She is depicted as blessing Lakshmana by making varada mudra with her left hand. Lakshman is standing in front of them (in left profile) in reverence and makes a namaste mudra with both his palms while holding a spear in his hands. He is also dressed in a yellow dhoti and a white angavastram (upper torso garment) while his hair is tied in a neat bun above his head. A blackbuck is seen in the foreground while the grounds are shaded green with a few trees (mango, banana and others) set against the shaded blue skyline populated by perched white storks. The image is enclosed by a broad red brooder within black and white lines.
