A nayika is seen holding a golden cage in her hands while conversing with a parrot which ostensibly seems to be an amalgamation of several classic styles and periods. This painting, however, shows the strongest resonance with a late Bundi qalam with a 19‒century Jaipur and Kangra touch to it. The tree with pale leaves in the background has the quality of a Bundi‒style rendering and a parrot perched on it, turns its head looking at the nayika.

The nayika holds a golden cage in her right hand while directing the parrot towards the cage with her left. Her long hair is untied and her head is covered with her translucent white odhani (veil). She is bedecked in gold and pearl jewellery. The light green of the background, which should have been a malachite green, merges with the colourful skyline.
