This bronze statuette depicts Shiva as Dakshinamurti, the embodiment of knowledge and destroyer of ignorance. Three‒eyed and four‒armed, he places his right foot on the dwarf demon Apasmarapurusha. His lower right hand holds a rosary in jnana mudra, the gesture of knowledge, while his lower left is raised in abhaya mudra, the gesture of reassurance and protection. His upper hands hold a snake and fire. Behind him, the tree of wisdom forms a canopy reminiscent of a five‒ hooded serpent. His jatamukuta (headdress) is adorned with a crescent moon. He wears necklaces, a yajnopavita (sacred thread), a chest band, amulets, bracelets, and anklets, and is seated on a square lotus pedestal flanked by two attendants.
