A solitary Nayika is enjoying her hukkah on a balcony against an evening sky. The beautifully painted face of the Nayika represents the glorious phase of the Kangra school during which artists drew facial features with a heightened sense of idealised beauty.
The Nayika is shown resting her back against a large orange bolster, bringing the mouth piece of a long green coloured hukkah pipe closer to her face while her left-hand rests on a smaller cushion. Her delicately lined face is set with neat elongated eyes a sharp nose and perfectly rounded chin. She is wearing an austere white jama with delicate golden prints and a matching dupatta that goes around her head and shoulder in a style that is a precursor to modern day Sikh style dupatta. Her elaborate jewellery, fingers and finger tips are rendered in fine detail. She is seated on a yellow carpet spread on the white floor of a balcony with a marble balustrade. A meticulously detailed glass (?) hukkah is in front of her on the floor. An olive-green middle ground behind the balcony with an arch formation frames her figure. The green is sharply contrasted with a bright orange horizon set leading towards a shaded blue
skyline with a hint of crimson. The image has a pink border with maroon spray work on it.
